CODE Amsterdam took me on for a hard cover publication that emphasised hand-made culture. We went to The Scottish Isles to interview 5th generation wool makers, the South of France for an unlikely perfumer, California for Obey’s factory, Finland for remote woodchoppers... and many other corners of the world for our features.
I lead the design of the book and wrote some of the articles featured. I took inspiration from the previous issue’s of CODE I’ve designed, I’m way too attracted to the minimalism not to. CODE Handmade is somewhere between completely me and not at all. It’s a more dense (almost twice the size of the Dutch and German issues) circulated version of the latter, and one that was the most fun to make.
